I'm challenging 27 to fight MND alongside my mentor/sister Leanne Sklavenitis

I look up to my big sister Leanne. Don't all little sisters? Or is it just a cliche?

Growing up she was always striving to be the best version of herself, but more than that, she was always encouraging and supporting family, friends and even complete strangers to do exactly the same.

Then came along that fateful day in September 2017 when she called and told me she'd just been diagnosed with MND. I already had my suspicions, so it didn't come as a complete surprise, but to actually hear her say it was another thing. I knew a bit about MND as I had close friends who had lost family members, so I knew it was life changing and ultimately life ending.

Leanne has proved me and everyone around her (including her allied health professionals) wrong on so many levels.

People ask me "does she have a less severe form of MND", I reply no, "she's just one stubborn, motivated, driven, unique, incredible, amazing, awesome person, who says f@#k MND".

Her mindset and those of the people around her, are turning everything we thought we knew about MND on its head.

She can't speak or do anything physically for herself, but that doesn't stop her. It just makes her even more determined than ever to keep living and inspiring everyone to be 'Awesome Every Day', regardless of whether they are facing adversity or not.

Leanne's latest adventure is as a mentor for FightMND's Challenge 27.

Challenge 27 is a powerful reminder that the average life expectancy for someone diagnosed with MND is just 27 months.

I am taking part in the challenge with Leanne as my mentor so together we can be part of the fight towards a world free from MND.

If you can, please support me by donating to my page. Every dollar counts, and all funds raised go to support FightMND’s mission to find a cure for motor neurone disease.

Your support means a lot to me!

Thanks! Amanda (and Leanne) xox
