I am fundraising for FightMND!
The Melbourne Cricket Ground ‘MCG’ is the home of AFL Football. In 1956 it hosted the Olympic Games and last week hosted AC/DC in concert. On November 30th, it’s my turn. Since January 2022, I’ve walked more than 2,200km around different Senior Footy Ovals (9km / 10,000+ steps each). After a friend recently reached out to MCC CEO Stuart Fox on my behalf, I’ve now been given the opportunity to complete my upcoming 250th Footy Oval walk around the hallowed turf of the MCG. As a thank you for giving me 2-hours access to the ground and to mark the occasion, I’ve offered to run a fundraiser for FightMND. Too many in our community are impacted by Motor Neurone Disease ‘The Beast’. I'm hoping to raise $1- for every step I walk. Any contribution you’re able to make to continue the fight will be most appreciated 🙏My Achievements

Mission Complete ✅
Sunday 30th Nov I’ve completed my 250th Footy Oval walk around the MCG this afternoon. Crowd: Nil (but security was watching me like a hawk). Despite some rain periods, it was a wonderful experience! Today the People’s Ground was My Ground. Thanks to everyone who’s donated to my FightMND fundraiser ($4,314- raised to date). Thanks to those of you who shared my fundraising link (I don’t know all of the donors, so you’ve made a difference). Thanks also to everyone who wished me well, but after such a long preparation, this really was just a walk in the park - 10k steps🚶🏻♂️ Share

Monday 24th NovEvery walk I take a main photo (extras if I see something interesting). Photos are posted on my public Facebook page ‘Footy Ovals - 10k Steps’ and on Google Maps. I take pride in my photos (they’re improving all the time). I don’t like other people ‘or their dogs’ in my photos. I have on occasions asked people to move aside, so that I can take the photo I want 😬

Why walk laps around a Footy Oval?
Wednesday 19th Nov For me the FightMND fundraiser isn’t just about my upcoming 250th walk around the MCG, it’s about the 4-year journey to get there. People have often said to me that it’s an odd thing to be doing to walk 10k steps around different Footy Ovals (no-one else is doing this). In the height of COVID restrictions, I recall Kane Cornes (AFL personality) giving me some inspiration after he walked a marathon 42 kms around a Tennis Court.
