True Blue Gala
The True-Blue Gala is an initiative with a dual purpose: to honour those affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND), directly or indirectly, and to raise awareness and funds to support MND research and ultimately find a cure.
MND, a group of diseases where nerve cells controlling muscle movement, speech, swallowing, and breathing, begin to malfunction and eventually die, causing gradual muscle weakness and deterioration. Whilst the intricacies of this disease is still not fully understood, the effects on those diagnosed, and their support network is clear; with often a short prognosis; sometimes being referred to as “1000 day disease”, the devastating condition strips individuals of their independence, dignity and ultimately, their lives.
We pay tribute to Dr. Daniel Lane, whose experience inspired this project. As a devoted husband, father, friend, and medical professional, whose battle with MND came to an end in 2023, he inspired us to step up and take action, as he believed: "You either get busy living or get busy dying."
We are committed to do our part in boosting research funding to expand treatment options and, ultimately, find a cure, with the aim of minimizing the impact of this cruel disease on lives. Together, we aim to be, one step closer to curing MND.
