Hi there,
In November, I'll be running the GPT50k - a grueling yet epic run along the Grampians Peaks Trail from Mount Zero to Halls Gap. I'm dedicating this run and training to raising vital funds to support FightMND and help beat the Beast that is Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
My brother Andrew (or Rooey) was diagnosed almost two years ago, he is a father to 3 beautiful kids, has a loving wife and family and friends. The average life expectancy of someone diagnosed with MND is just 27 months.

Tuesday 3rd MarWow, I am completely blown away by the amount of support we’ve received since launching only one week ago. Thank you to everyone who shared the post and a massive thank to those who were able to donate. Together we have raised over $10,000 in under a week to fund vital research with the goal of finding a cure for MND, and support families living with this beast.
This week I’ve got back onto the trails, the Dunkeld to Mount Sturgeon Loop. A humbling 14km with 440m of elevation gain and loss. Crazy to think that in 8 months time I’ll be conquering over 3 times that distance and 4 times the elevation 🤯.
This week my brother and sister-in-law headed off to their specialist appointments with a glimmer of hope, only to leave with a brutally familiar empty feeling and knowing there is no cure yet.
In Manda’s words, Andrew “picks himself up time after time, he does it for us, his family and friends, to bring that hope back to the surface, that he will stay with us much longer than those specialists believe.”
When I’m trudging up a mountain with a painful hip, sweating, choking on energy gels, quads and calves burning, this is what I’m thinking of.
I’m thinking of Andrew getting up everyday, facing immense and new challenges with a smile on his face and laughter always bubbling at the surface.
Let’s keep running for those who can’t, and raising funds for brilliant minds who might give us extra time with those who deserve it.
