FightMND Pedal4Cure Update

Sunday 8th Mar
After 5 days, Strava tells me that I spent 26h 42m riding 581kms, which involved climbing over 7,414m and in which it estimates I burned 17,811 calories.
Thankyou to my Cmen and great girls for an awesome week. Particualty Barge, Trickey, Rocket and Snake who were all so supportive and positive to me, and got our crew working so well.
During this time the amazing catering crew, Β fed us insane amounts of delicious food (ham, chicken, beef and salad rolls, snickers and mars bars, Carmens Protein bars, enough bananas to keep any monkey happy, icy cold coke and plenty of lollies).
They ensured we were looked after medically when needed, which was very minimal. I am thankful to hear Rocket has made a good recovery after falling ill just before the final ascent of Mount Lofty on Day 5.
And our escorts got us lost. We won't hold to against them as they also found us our way out onto the right route each time.
The highlights for me would have to be riding with Ritchie Porte on Day 1, and beating some incredible mental challenges to do so much climbing. Particularly the famous Wilunga Hill (twice - Day 2 and 3), and the last and final climb over Norton Summit and onward up to Mount Lofty, all after beating the brutal Corkscrew Road (Day 5).
We had rain on Days 1 and 2, and then weather brigthened up to provide magnificent cycling weather.
The event has been incredible, I have met great people, and heard so many sad stories of The Beast that is MND and how it has impacted so many families.
Keep donating to this amazing cause.
I look forward to the 2028 edition.
