I'm taking the plunge in this year's DIY Big Freeze to help FightMND beat the Beast – and I’m doing it in memory of my beautiful dad, Maurice.
In 2010, I lost my dad to Motor Neurone Disease (MND) after he fought a heart-wrenching 18-month battle with this cruel illness. It’s a cause that sits incredibly close to my heart, and this year, my workplace Besser + Co is proudly standing beside me to bring a special community event to life — one that honours his memory and raises vital funds to fight MND.
MND is a progressive and relentless disease that slowly takes away a person’s ability to move, speak, eat, and eventually breathe. The average life expectancy after diagnosis is just 27 months — and still, there is no cure.
That’s why we’re bringing the local community together on Friday, 30th May, for a day filled with heart, connection, and purpose. There’ll be live music, a sizzling BBQ, live music and of course — the Ice Bucket Challenge!
We’re calling on everyone to show support in any way they can — whether by donating, attending, or simply sharing our message. Your contribution — big or small — helps improve the lives of those living with MND, supports families through the unimaginable, funds critical research, and brings us closer to finding a cure.
