I am fundraising for FightMND!

The month of June is my birthday month, but this year I don’t want any material gifts - instead I would like a cure for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

The 30th of November 2025 will mark 10 years since our mum, Joanne Farrugia, passed away after her courageous fight with MND. Mum was a loving mother and wife, a talented and creative teacher, a woman of strong faith, and a great friend to many. She would have also been an exceptional Nan-Nan to her grandchildren, but sadly MND robbed her of that chance. 

That’s why, during the month of June, I’m pledging to push and/or carrier-walk my baby (one of her beautiful grandchildren) at least 4 kilometres each day. 

Why 4 kilometres? 4 kilometres is representative of the 2 people who are diagnosed with, and the 2 further people who pass away from, MND each day in Australia. If I live up to my aim, baby and I should be able to total 120km during the month. That might not be very impressive to some, but I reckon it’s the best I can do six months postpartum (I’ll do something physically more impressive in 2035 I promise)

The average life expectancy of someone diagnosed with MND is just 27 months. It’s an insidious disease that isn’t as rare as you might think. 

So, please support me by donating to fund vital research, effective treatments and ultimately a cure for MND.
