The man who inspired the project was a devoted husband, father, friend, sportsman, and medical professional. His journey, marked by resilience, courage, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones, embodied what it means to be 'true blue'. Even after his battle with MND ended in 2023, his spirit continues to fuel our determination, reflected in his enduring words: 

"You either get busy living, or get busy dying."

OUR MISSION

The True Blue Gala is an initiative with a dual purpose. It's our opportunity to honour those affected, either directly or indirectly, by MND.  It is also our chance to raise awareness and vital funds to support the search for treatments and a cure through FightMND.

Founded in 2014, FightMND was established with the purpose of finding effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure for motor neurone disease (MND).

Since 2014, FightMND has invested more than $115 million into vital cure research and care initiatives for those living with MND. This makes FightMND one of the world’s leading independent funders of MND research. Among its work, FightMND has funded 15 clinical trials across 10 sites in Australia and supported 30 drugs in the drug development pipeline. Furthermore, more than 600 Australians have accessed clinical trials through FightMND funded projects.  

Investing in research is our best weapon against the Beast, but it is expensive and takes time. For 10 years our supporters have helped us build a solid research foundation. We’re now at basecamp, but we still need your help to get to the summit. Your continued support helps us to continue accelerating progress towards finally beating the Beast that is MND.
