I’m fundraising for FightMND

I am taking part in this year's Big Freeze Echuca Moama to fundraise to help FightMND and beat the Beast that is motor neurone disease (MND).

My name is Phoebe Keech, a proud wife to Blake and mum to three young kids, Spencer, Arlo and Rubi.

I am the Functions Coordinator at Rich River Golf Club and volunteer as a Board Member, netball coach and player for the Mathoura Football Netball Club.

I have watched for years the incredible fundraising efforts that have been done to fight MND, and I feel truly honoured to be able to contribute this year as a Slider.

I’m dedicating my slide to my friend Greg Glenn, who sadly lost his battle with MND last year. I first met Greg and his wife Sandra as regulars at Rich River Golf Club and over time our friendship grew into something very special. While I could never fully understand the daily challenges he faced, witnessing Greg’s courage and determination from diagnosis through to his final weeks continues to inspire me to raise as much as possible to help find a cure.

I am also sliding on behalf of everyone who has been affected by MND. In memory of David, who lost his battle to the beast, and in support of Shane, who continues to fight his with courage.

I am proud to stand as a representative for all those from the Mathoura Football Netball Club and Rich River Golf Club whose lives have been touched by MND.

Most importantly, I want to show my children that sometimes stepping up means doing something challenging not for yourself, but for the benefit of others and that true strength is found in helping those who need it most. 

MND is a progressive disease that gradually takes away a person’s use of their arms and legs, their ability to eat and swallow, their speech and ultimately, their ability to breathe... all in an average timeframe of just 27 months.
