Falls Creek Ice Plunge 2026

Now in its 19th year, the Ice Plunge is more than just a cold-water challenge. Held annually on the first day of winter, the event invites locals and visitors to take a dip in Australia’s highest alpine lake — often dressed in colourful costumes — all in the name of fun, community spirit, and a great cause. According to tradition, the plunge is an offering to the snow gods for a bountiful winter ahead.
All proceeds from entry fees will go towards FightMND, supporting ongoing research and treatment efforts for Motor Neuron Disease. Big Freeze 12 merchandise, including the iconic beanies and socks, will be available for purchase, with all funds going directly to the cause.
