Big Freeze at Gordon Rugby – Saturday, July 12

Gordon Highlanders vs Warringah Rats – A Clash for a Cure

The countdown is on! On Saturday July 12, Gordon Rugby is taking the plunge literally, in support of FightMND, standing strong for all Australians impacted by Motor Neurone Disease.

As someone living with MND, the support of Gordon means the absolute world to me and my family. I loved my time playing here some of the best years of my life and it is incredible to see so many of my teammates showing up to rally behind this cause.

But this is about more than raising awareness, it’s a show of strength, unity, and community. It reminds all of us impacted by MND that we are not alone. Every ice bath, every cheer, every act of support helps bring us closer to a future without this cruel disease.

Not long ago, I was a healthy 35 year old, chasing my two beautiful kids around the backyard and training for a marathon. Then, came the diagnosis that turned everything upside down. MND is relentless it gradually robs people of their ability to move, speak, eat, and breathe but it never takes away our spirit or our fight.

This Big Freeze isn’t just about cold water, it’s about showing what courage and compassion really look like. It’s about inspiring the next generation to stand up for others and to believe in the power of community.

And what better day to do it than when Gordon takes on the Warringah Rats a classic rivalry on the field, and now a shared purpose off it. Plus it’s very fitting given these are the two clubs that I played for.

Let’s turn this clash into something bigger than rugby. Let’s make some noise, freeze our bits off, and raise vital funds to help researchers find treatments and one day, a cure.

Donate generously.

Cheer loudly.

Freeze proudly.

Together, Gordon, we can fight the beast.
