Camden High School Big Freeze 12 Fundraiser Week

We're participating in this year's DIY Big Freeze

We're fundraising for FightMND - We're choosing to fight

This year, school captains James and Jye from Camden High School are leading a meaningful initiative—hosting a DIY fundraising week to support FightMND and raise both awareness and critical funds for the fight against motor neurone disease.

Motor neurone disease (MND) is a devastating condition that progressively robs individuals of their ability to move, speak, eat, and eventually breathe. It targets the motor neurons—the nerves that carry messages from the brain to the muscles. As these signals deteriorate, muscles weaken, and everyday activities become increasingly difficult, before ultimately becoming impossible. Over time, the body shuts down.

There is currently no cure.

MND is fast and aggressive, affecting around 1 in 300 Australians. Following diagnosis, the average life expectancy is just 27 months—barely more than two years. Two years to say goodbye to loved ones. Two years to lose independence. Two years to face a disease that, for now, cannot be stopped.

However, there is hope.

Since 2014, FightMND has been driving vital research and positioning Australia as a global leader in the search for effective treatments and a cure. Their work is changing the future—but they cannot do it alone.

That’s why our school community is stepping up.

Inspired by the iconic Big Freeze, Camden High School will bring this spirit to life during the week of the King’s Birthday. A series of engaging events including a

- Trivia Night

- Silent Auction

- Big Freeze-Style Slide

- Food Sale

will give students and the wider community the chance to get involved. We will also be selling official Big Freeze 12 beanies and socks to further support the cause.

Our goal is to raise $15,000 for FightMND. This is more than just a number—it represents progress, hope, and one step closer to finding a cure.

As FightMND says, “It takes people.” Real change happens when individuals come together—when people care, take action, and step up for something bigger than themselves.

We invite you to be part of that change.

Donate if you can.
Buy a beanie.
Attend our events.
Contribute to our silent auction.

Every action matters.

Because one day, this disease could affect someone you know—someone you love.

Fighting MND starts with a choice.

We’re choosing to fight.

Will you?
