DANIHER’S DRIVE INFORMATION
What is Daniher’s Drive?
Daniher’s Drive is our famous annual road trip. The trip aims to raise awareness and vital funds to fight motor neurone disease (MND).
This is a 4-day road trip unlike any other. Join 200 like-minded people to visit some of Australia's greatest towns. Take part in fun events and meet new people, many of whom have been affected by MND.
Daniher’s Drive 2026 will take place in South Australia from 8 to 11 October. We will be basing ourselves in Adelaide CBD each night and travelling Adelaide Hills, the Fleurieu Peninsula, McLaren Vale and the Barossa during the day.
Registrations are now open. So, grab your friends and family, form a team, and join us for the Drive in ’26.

I am not from South Australia, how do interstate participants take part in the drive?
This is the first year we are taking the entire Daniher's Drive to a location outside Victoria, so we understand you will have questions!
The top options to travel from an interstate location (eg; Victoria) into South Australia to take part in the drive are:
1. Drive
Many of our participants are planning to drive from Victoria to South Australia, the drive will take approximately 8 hours but we plan to make it a bit of fun! When registering we will ask you if you are planning to drive (and from which state) so that we can create 'convoy groups' to head to and from our base in Adelaide. We will be suggesting a departure time and some pit stops along the way to join your fellow drivers from your state.
2. Fly and hire a car
Alternatively, you can fly from your capital city into Adelaide and hire a car. We are working on some discounted car hire so stay tuned!

Are my donations tax-deductible?
Donations made directly to FightMND, where the donor does not receive a personal benefit in return, are tax deductible in Australia.
Please note: prior to 1 July 2026, donations needed to be $2 or more to be eligible for a tax-deductible receipt.
A few helpful tax receipt reminders:
-
Community fundraising: Money raised through activities where someone receives something in return (such as event tickets, raffle tickets or auction items) are not considered a donation by the ATO. This means FightMND cannot provide a tax deductible donation receipt for these payments.
-
Sponsorship: If an individual or business receives something of value in return for their support (such as promotion, advertising, branding or other benefits) are considered sponsorship rather than a donation and are not eligible for a tax deductible donation receipt. Sponsors may wish to seek their own tax advice, as their contribution may be eligible to be claimed as a business expense.
-
Online fundraising pages: Supporters who make a direct donation through your online fundraising page will automatically receive a tax-deductible receipt by email. Payments for auction items, raffle tickets or event tickets should not be processed through your online fundraising page, as these payments are not tax-deductible. FightMND can absolutely add these totals to your fundraising page so that your page reflects the total amount raised from all of your fundraising efforts.
If you need help with alternative ways to collect payments for auction items, raffle tickets or event tickets, please contact Raelene Mathewson, Daniher’s Drive Participant Liaison.
